Affiliate disclosure
Last updated 13 August 2026.
TunnelScore is a reader-supported, independent comparison site. Some of the links to VPN providers here are affiliate links: if you click one and subscribe, we may earn a commission. We disclose this under the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), which require transparency about any material connection between us and the products we recommend.
Which programs, exactly
We are in the affiliate program of Proton VPN, and only that. NordVPN, Surfshark, ExpressVPN, CyberGhost VPN and Private Internet Access (PIA) pay us nothing: we are not in their programs, their links carry no sponsorship tag, and no page shows a commission notice next to them. We do not list a program we have merely applied to. If an application is approved, this page and the links change together, because both read the same switch.
How you can tell, on any page
A link that pays us carries rel="sponsored" and a short disclosure right next to
the button, not only on this page. A link that does not pay us carries neither. That is not a
promise about our intentions, it is how the site is built: one switch per provider controls the
destination, the rel attribute, the tracking markers and the wording, so the site
cannot claim a commission it does not earn.
It costs you nothing extra
An affiliate commission never changes the price you pay. It is identical whether you use our link or go to the provider directly.
Commissions do not buy rankings
Our recommendations and scores are decided on each VPN's published specifications: jurisdiction, independently audited no-logs policy, servers, device limits and real renewal price. We do not accept payment for a better ranking, we include providers that pay us nothing, and we say plainly when a VPN is a poor fit.
